Biography: 

Dixie Hawtin is the project manager for digital communications and freedom of expression at Global Partners and Associates. She works on projects which aim to foster a global digital communications environment that is open, empowering and supports human rights. Her expertise is in project development and management, policy research, advocacy work and capacity building. She is currently managing two projects supporting civil society groups around the world to more effectively defend and strengthen internet freedoms. She is also managing a research project exploring potential policy solutions to global privacy protection on the internet for UNESCO. Dixie is co-chair of the Dynamic Coalition on Internet Rights and Principles, an international network of individuals and organisations who work to uphold human rights through internet governance. Dixie has an MA in Understanding and Securing Human Rights and has carried out original field research for grassroots human rights organisations in India and Colombia. She also has a law degree from the University of Warwick.
