Biography: 

Fidan Karimli was born in 1992 in Baku, Azerbaijan. While attending school, Fidan joined the "NUR" Children and Youth Voluntary Group. After graduating school alongside continuing her studies in undergraduate program on Computer Sciences (Applied Mathematics), she was broadening her social activism. Fidan, has become on the most active members and later a Board Member of "NUR" Children and Youth Public Union by increasing her leadership and management skills. Fidan represented NUR in several international events
“NUR” CYPU has implemented a number of successful projects concerning children and youth development and participation in Azerbaijan and plays special role in children's wellbeing in the society and formation of the leaders. This organization was active in process of Global Movement for Children in Azerbaijan, and learning of the successful technologies and methodologies and its wider spread in society.
In 2007 "NUR" was awarded with "Youth Award" by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 "NUR" was awarded with "Staying Alive Award" for extraordinary efforts in HIV prevention by the Staying Alive Foundation and MTV Networks. In 2010 "NUR" received San Marino-UNICEF Children's Award in New York at the award ceremony attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, San Marino Secretary of State, the current President of the General Assembly UNICEF Executive Director.

NUR has presented the first children's web portal in Azerbaijan, which was especially developed for children. Fidan has been one of the monitors of the web portal.
NUR has organized Azerbaijani Children’s 1st Forum in 2009. Fidan has been facilitating the working group on “ICT and children” of child delegates.
Fidan was elected a Board Member of the National Youth Council of Azerbaijan (2012) and also is a member of British Council’s Global Changemakers Network. Currently, Fidan is a deputy chairperson of "NUR" Children and Youth Public Union and is the project manager of the “Cyber-Summer” Camp project which will be implemented by "NUR" Children and Youth Public Union in August and is aimed to provide children and youth with necessary knowledge and skills on ICT and social networks.
