Muradova - Sevinj
Sevinj Muradova was born in Azerbaijan. She graduated International Economic Relations from the Azerbaijani State Economic University in 2005 and afterwards got master degree in 2007. Sevinj initiated and founded “NUR” Children and Youth Public Union to protect child rights, promote child participation in decision making process and contribute for national and global efforts for children’s development when she was 14. Sevinj was representing children in several international events, including Global Children’s Forum and UN’s Special Session of the General Assembly on Children in 2002.
“NUR” CYPU has implemented a number of successful projects concerning children and youth development and participation in Azerbaijan and plays special role in children's well being in the society and formation of the leaders. This organization was active in process of Global Movement for Children in Azerbaijan.
In 2007 "NUR" was awarded with "Youth Award" by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 "NUR" was awarded with "Staying Alive Award" for extraordinary efforts in HIV prevention by the Staying Alive Foundation and MTV Networks. In 2010 "NUR" received San Marino-UNICEF Children's Award in New York at the award ceremony attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, San Marino Secretary of State, the current President of the General Assembly UNICEF Executive Director.
NUR has presented the first children's web portal in Azerbaijan, which was especially developed for children. NUR has organized Azerbaijani Children’s 1st Forum with support of the Azerbaijan Government and Heydar Aliyev Foundation, also: State Committee on Family, Women and Child Issues, Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sport, in 2009.
Sevinj was elected a member of the Member of the Financial Control Commission of the European Youth Forum (2004-2006), head of the board of the National Youth Council of Azerbaijan (2004-2006) and member of the “New Leaders of Tomorrow” of the Crans Montana Forum (2012). Currently Sevinj is a Social and Communication Specialist of the ISWM Project (Ministry of Economic Development and World Bank funded) and chairperson of "NUR" Children and Youth Public Union.
